Happy Halloween
As a father I must apologize for the boys' costumes. As you can easily tell, Milo's Batman costume is based on "The Batman" series running on the former WB and CW networks from 2004-2008 and Joey's Robin outfit is based on the Robin character from Cartoon Network's "Teen Titans" that aired from 2003-2006.
The most significant inaccuracy in these costumes is that Robin was never a character in "The Batman" series and inversely Batman was not a character in "Teen Titans." Therefore... technically the two superheros would never have appeared together in these exact costumes.
Other than that it was a pretty good Halloween!
Milo's Adjustment to Pre-K
So every once and a while Milo has a run-in with a bully or at least gets into some sort of little row with an older kid. He usually has a way of either coming out ahead... or at least convincing the other kid that he's crazy enough not to be messed with again.
The daycare's privacy policy prohibits naming other parties involved in one of these events, so the note that comes home basically says "Milo and another boy got into an altercation" or something similar. With a little prying we can usually get the name of the other kid involved from Milo and this is helpful - at least for determining which birthday parties we should avoid.
The other night during dinner we were discussing how school was and Milo asked "What's the name of that older kid who beat me up?"
I guess if he can't remember the name it must not have been that traumatizing. And this screams so much "Calvin and Hobbes" it's almost plagiarism.

A day with Joey
Today, Mommy and Joey got to spend the day together. We ran errands, went to the park, and watched "Batman."
Highlight of the Day: While loading groceries onto the conveyor belt, I heard a sweet voice starting singing "Happy Birthday." I turned to see Joey singing loudly and holding out a box of tampons for me.
Happy Birthday, indeed!

Milo Good - Heartbreaker
Milo has already learned the valuable lesson that keeping the ladies at a distance only makes them want you more. This morning when I dropped the boys off at school, one of Milo's little friends whom I could best describe as a Lucy Van Pelt to Milo's Charlie Brown came up to him. She was wearing a new shirt with a ballerina on the front. She asked "Hey Milo, do you like my shirt?"
Milo glanced over to his left, scanned her top with his eyes, and said "Ehhh... " and continued talking to his friends.
I cracked up... told the little girl that I liked her shirt... gave Milo a hug and walked out thinking it won't be long before our phone is ringing off the hook from little girls asking "Can I talk to Milo?"

Brotherhood of the Traveling Pants
Here was the sequence of events in getting Joey dressed this AM:
9:48am - Dad opens Joey's drawer and pulls out a pair of pants.
Dad - "Joey, it's time to get some pants on"
Joey - "No, I want shorts!"
Dad - "Joey, it's too cold for shorts. Let's put on some pants"
(repeat this exchange until 9:55am)
9:55am - Dad gives Joey a raspberry on his belly
9:56am - Dad pulls out a 2nd pair of pants for Joey to choose from
Dad - "Ok Joey, which pants do you want to wear"
Joey - "These pants" (yes, the same pants Dad pulled out at 9:48am)
Dad - "Ok, then come over here and let's put them on"
Joey "No! I wanna do it myself"
So yes... in the course of 8 minutes Joey went from not wanting to wear pants to insisting that he get to put them on by himself.

Eat This, Not That per Milo Good
With potty-training, some days you have much to celebrate while other days can seem you're back at square one.
Tonight Daddy had the pleasure of cleaning out a pair of very soiled underwear belonging to Joey . Milo came into the bathroom to see what all the fuss was about. He took a peak inside the toilet bowl and casually announced "That's it Joey, no more corn for you!"
Aren't you glad I made this "Image Not Available" sign I put on so many of the posts?

Kraut in das Haus
Tonight may have been the first time we've ever had the boys try sauerkraut. We basically did the simple veggie hot dogs, kraut, and tater tots meal to wrap up a rainy day in Austin.
Mommy's & Daddy's hot dogs were smothered in kraut in good fashion. For the boys, I put theirs on the side just to try it out.
When dinner was served Milo asked "Dad, what's that on your hot dogs?"
I responded, "It's sauerkraut son. I gave you some too but I didn't put it on your hot dog in case you didn't like it."
Milo looked up and said "Dad, you're creeping me out."
